Information, not advice
These pages describe how water damage and mold work are generally handled in the United States, and what standard policy wording and published guidance say. They are not legal advice, insurance advice or medical advice, and your own policy, your own state law and your own doctor govern your situation rather than anything written here.
Where a figure or a rule is given, its source is named so you can read the original. Sources change; we check them when a page is written and cannot promise they have not moved since.
The work is the contractor’s
Calls are routed to independent contractors. This site does not perform, supervise, inspect, warrant or guarantee any work, does not select the contractor on the basis of any assessment of quality, and is not a party to any agreement you make with them.
Checking a licence, insurance and terms before work begins is the homeowner’s to do, and the site exists partly to explain how.
